Rally History
In 1984 they organized their first Jersey Car Rally sponsored by Tudor Webasto. The headquarters were in the Pomme D’or Hotel, which has had a long association with the club, but by year two the attraction to this unique event was so great it outgrew the Pomme and moved into the Island’s largest hotel and sister to the Pomme, the Merton, where is still runs from today.
The 1984 winners of the first Jersey Car Rally were Tony Morgan (Fairfield Motorsport) & co-driver Roger Evans in an DTV ex. Roger also co-drove Jeff Churchill and David Llewellin and returned in later years to the event as an RAC Steward.
Many ex-Works drivers have competed over the years on the Jersey Car Rally. Jimmy McRae himself competed there in a Porchse and Formula One girl Louise competed in a Honda a few years ago.
