Hemicuda Rally 2008

Hemicuda  - 28th September, 2008

The Hemicuda Rally is based in the small Flemish Town of Koekelare just over an hour’s run from the Port of Calais.

Held in early November this is one of the best organized one day events we have competed on and thus it’s inclusion into the Rallysport Cup.

Centralized servicing was on concrete with good facilities and within walking distance of Rally Headquarters which was based in the De Gouden Triangel Restaurant, two Supermarkets on hand for that essential shopping and good food and refreshments available throughout the day in the Rally HQ and service area.

Results were updated and available all day and moved on smoothly to finial and presentation.

Three UK Crews competed on the 2006 event, but unfortunately early into the event Michael St.Barbe and James Carlin in an Escort Cosworth were forced to retire with engine problems, Dave Pattison (Ears Motorsport) and Paul Whittacker (Motordrive Seats) went on to take 1st Overall in their Mitsubishi Evo V1 Group A followed just 11 seconds behind by John Morgan (Fairfield Motorsport) and Llinos Jones-Edwards taking 2nd in an Evo VII Group N, 3rd overall went to the well known Belgian Rally driver Paul Lietar and Nico Beermaert in a BMW M3.

A favorite at the start was Peter Desmet and Kathy Vercruysse in a Toyoto Corolla WRC but luck was not on their side with an early retirement.

We are looking forward to returning to this event in 2007.
