Isle Of Man - Steam Packet Company

The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company as been offering continuous service to the Isle of Man for more than 175 years making it the oldest continually operating passenger shipping company in the World, it commenced service in 1830.

Today’s main service to the Island is from Heysham to Douglas offering a all year round service on the Ben-my-Cree.

The Island is famous for it’s Motorbike racing the ‘TTs’ and the Ben-my-Cree probably carries more motorbike’s during the TT’s on a single journey than most boat’s ever dream of.

2007 sees the 100th anniversary of TT Race Festival on the Island and during a normal racing fortnight the Steam Packet Company carries over 35,000passengers and 13,000 bikes to and from the Island.

The Isle of Man 100th Anniversary TT Races are 26th May to 8th June, 2007.

The Island welcome’s Motorsport on four wheels as well as two and in May and August each year hoists two closed road stage rallies the Manx National and the Manx International which rank as some of the best of tarmac rallies in the World.

Famous for it’s modes of transport this Celtic Island can boast them all.

                   Belfast         to       Douglas    2hrs.45mins
                   Dublin                   to       Douglas    2hrs.45mins

The Liverpool, Belfast and Dublin routes are serviced by fast ferries with Sea Cat and Super Sea Car vessels which are based on Catamarans, you are limited to size (dimensions) and weight of what can be carried.  Cars, small Motorhomes or Vans have no problem but unlike the Ben-my-Cree they cannot carry the larger vehicles.

If you visit the Island and pass over Fairy Bridge don’t forget to say hello to the Fairies or your visit will not be of the best.
