Guest House |
|
Camalou is situated just 4 kilometers from Ypres, town centre.
During the Great War the building was the Headquarters of 4th
Brigade due to its strategic location in relation to the battlefield.
Many of the roof timbers above the guest bedrooms still display
the British War Department stenciling!
In the ‘creation’ of Camalou Guest House, the owner,
Annette Linthout, has taken great care to ensure that the accommodation
she offers is to the highest of standards.
Her efforts started with a deliberate decision to limit the number
of guest rooms to three, in order that she may retain her personal
involvement with the running of her guest house. From this starting
point Madame Linthout set about the conversion of a wing of her
property, a task she both relished and excelled in, as any visitor
to Camalou will testify.
The three guest bedrooms were the focus of her careful and painstaking
attention to detail. Simply furnishing the rooms was not enough
for Annette Linthout! Her background in design and architecture
provided the inspiration for the three en-suite rooms, each tastefully
decorated using the skilful combination of colours, fabrics and
furniture of the highest quality. Each room is named after a flower
drawn from some of the most poignant poetry of the Great War.
All rooms have en-suite shower rooms and WC, as well as TV (with
English channels).
