The old service ceased in 2006 previously it had operated from March in time for the St. Patrick’s day Holidays (St. Patrick - Patron Saint of Ireland - St. Patrick's Day 17th March) and continued until early January, crossing overnight from Swansea, the terminal is located near the newly developing SA1 quarter offering you close at hand Hotel & Restaurant facilities into Cork City which is the closest port to the beautiful Town & Harbour of Kinsale, were you can dine in fine restaurants that you will not forget.

The new ship MV Julia was purchased by the West Cork Co-operative who will operate her under the banner Fastnet Line for 7.8million Euros from Finland, she sailed from Finalnd on the 16th September, 2009 for her new life in warmer waters of the Irish Sea on the Swansea Cork ferry route, first arriving at Swansea for berthing trials. After successful berthing trials she set sail for Cork on the 24th September and is currently docked at Horgan's Quay, Cork Harbour were preparations are ongoing for her readiness for service on the Swansea Cork ferry route.

The Swansea Cork ferry - Fastnet Line sailings are scheduled to return on the 1st March, 2010 - St. David's Day (St. David - Dewi Sant - Patron Saint of Wales - St. David's Day 1st March)
