Irish Ferries

Irish ferries offer sailings from Wales to the republic of Ireland sailing from Pembroke in the South and Holyhead (Ynys Mon) in the North, and from Dublin to Cherbourg and Roscoff in France.

The Ulysses the World’s largest car ferry operates their Holyhead to Dublin route with a crossing time of 3hours 15mins and the Jonathan Swift, named after the Anglo-Irish churchman, political writer and poet, who most would related to as the author of Gulliver’s Travels, offer a fast cat service cutting the journey time down to 1hour 49minutes.

From the South Wales port of Pembroke Dock dating back as a highly strategic port during the Napoleonic wars and World War II it being the only location in the British Isles were Nelson could anchor his full armada, and much there is named in his memory, the Dock which shows it’s fine buildings which previously used by the admiralty is serviced by good road links from the M4 – Irish Ferries sail the Isle of Inishmore from this port crossing in 3hours 45minutes and offering two sailings daily.

Also offered from Irish Ferries is the service from Rosslare (County Wexford) to France, sailing the ‘Normandy’ to Roscoff in Brittany and Cherbourg in Normandy.

Roscoff being an ideal port for visiting St. Michael’s mount and Cherbourg to start a tour of the World War II Normany Beaches.

Crossing time on these routes are approximately 17hours.
